Davonna wants to help build a Solano County where every person has the opportunity to live a meaningful, secure, and dignified life. She wants families to have the stability and safety they need to thrive, young people to have the resources and encouragement to pursue their ambitions, and seniors to have the comfort, security, and dignity they have earned. She believes a strong community is one where individual potential is encouraged, opportunity is expanded, and people are empowered to pursue their own unique paths without unnecessary barriers standing in their way.

Davonna also wants a community where every resident knows their voice matters. She believes government should listen to the people it serves, recognize the distinct challenges faced by underserved and historically underrepresented communities, and ensure their experiences and needs are meaningfully reflected in the decisions that shape Solano County’s future. Her vision is for a community that preserves what makes Solano County strong while embracing thoughtful progress—one built through collaboration, civic participation, respect, and a shared commitment to ensuring that everyone who calls Solano County home has the opportunity to thrive.

Davonna believes Vacaville’s economic future should create opportunity for both the people who live here and the businesses that invest in the community. A strong local economy requires a healthy relationship between residents, workers, entrepreneurs, small businesses, and larger employers. She would support responsible business development, encourage investment, and work to create an environment where entrepreneurs and established businesses can grow while ensuring that economic growth translates into meaningful opportunities for Vacaville residents. This includes supporting local businesses, encouraging job creation, promoting workforce opportunities, and strengthening the city’s economic base so that it can continue to provide the services residents depend upon.

At the same time, Davonna believes economic opportunity means little if residents cannot afford to build their lives in the community where they work. The rising cost of living, particularly housing, creates barriers for working families, young adults entering the workforce, lower-income residents, and people who want to remain in the community they call home. She supports expanding attainable housing opportunities, including thoughtful medium- and high-density development where appropriate, while recognizing the importance of responsible planning and community input. Davonna would approach these issues by listening to residents, examining the evidence, and advocating for solutions that expand opportunity while protecting the long-term quality of life of the community.

Ultimately, Davonna wants Vacaville to be a place where people can afford to live, work, raise families, start businesses, and build independent futures. She believes the interests of workers, families, local businesses, and larger employers do not have to be competing interests. Strong businesses need a reliable workforce, workers need sustainable employment, and families need enough financial stability to participate in the local economy and community. Her goal is to help create a cycle in which responsible economic growth produces good opportunities for residents, residents have the purchasing power to support local businesses, and a stronger economic base gives the city greater capacity to invest in infrastructure, public services, education, and the quality of life that makes Vacaville a place people want to call home

Vacaville has a strong connection to agriculture, open space, and conservation, and I believe we should build upon that foundation. As a community with a significant farming presence, many residents already understand the importance of responsible land use, conservation, and sustainability. My goal would be to expand that culture of environmental stewardship by making participation in conservation more accessible to everyone. I would encourage greater participation in farmers markets, support local farms and community gardens, and promote gardening and sustainable practices that residents can incorporate into their own lives regardless of whether they have a large yard, a small home, or limited resources. 

Environmental opportunity should not be limited by income, neighborhood, or background. Historically under-represented communities can be left out of conversations surrounding healthy living, access to green spaces, and ecological participation. I would work to ensure that environmental education and community programs reach those communities directly, including helping residents understand how they can grow food and participate in conservation in virtually any living situation. Supporting accessible community gardens and protecting Vacaville's local habitats can provide both environmental and social benefits while giving residents a tangible way to participate in the health of their community. 

I also believe environmental education is most powerful when it begins with our children. I am personally converting my workplace into a monarch butterfly habitat to support these endangered pollinators during their migration season, and I hope to invite local children and schools to learn from that effort and develop a deeper connection to the natural environment. When children become excited about conservation, they often bring that enthusiasm home and engage their parents, grandparents, and siblings as well. By making environmental stewardship something people can experience personally, not simply something discussed in government meetings, we can cultivate a community that understands the value of protecting Vacaville's natural resources and feels empowered to take part in doing so.
